Ephesians 1:1

Ephesians 1:10

At the proper time, God will bring everything in heaven and on earth together under the authority of Jesus Christ. Christ will rule over all creation.

Ephesians 1:11

Believers have received an eternal inheritance because they belong to Christ. God planned this according to His purpose, and He works everything according to His perfect will.

Ephesians 1:12

God’s purpose is that those who first trusted in Christ would live for the praise of His glory. Their lives should point others to the greatness and goodness of God.

Jesus Christ is far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, and every other name. His authority is greater than all earthly and spiritual powers, both now and forever.

God placed everything under the authority of Jesus Christ. He also appointed Christ as the supreme Head over everything for the benefit of His church.

Ephesians 1:23

Ephesians 2:1

Even while people were spiritually dead in sin, God made believers spiritually alive together with Christ. Salvation is entirely the result of God’s grace.

God has spiritually raised believers with Christ and given them a secure position with Him in the heavenly realm.

All bitterness, uncontrolled anger, rage, shouting, insulting speech, and hateful behavior should be removed from the believer’s life.

Those who are spiritually asleep are called to wake up, turn from sin, and come to Christ. He will give them spiritual light and life.

Wives are called to submit to their own husbands as an act of obedience to the Lord.

The husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church. Christ is also the Savior and protector of His body, the church.

Ephesians 5:24

As the church willingly submits to Christ, wives are called to respect and submit to their husbands within the order God has established.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands are commanded to love their wives with the same self-sacrificing love Christ demonstrated for the church when He gave His life for her.

Ephesians 5:26

Christ gave Himself for the church to make her holy, cleansing her through the truth of God’s Word.

Ephesians 5:27

Christ’s purpose is to present the church to Himself as glorious, pure, holy, and without spiritual stain or defect.

Ephesians 5:28

Husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife is also loving and caring for himself.

Ephesians 5:29

No reasonable person hates his own body. Instead, he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ lovingly cares for His church.

Ephesians 5:30

Believers are members of Christ’s body and are spiritually united with Him and with one another.

Ephesians 5:31

In marriage, a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife. The two become one united flesh.

Ephesians 5:32

Each husband must love his wife as he loves himself, and each wife should respect her husband.

Ephesians 6:1

Children are commanded to obey their parents because this is right and pleasing to the Lord.

Summary of Ephesians Chapter 6

Paul begins by giving instructions for Christian family relationships. Children are to obey and honor their parents, while fathers are to raise their children with loving discipline and instruction in the Lord without provoking them to anger.

He then addresses servants and masters. Believers should work sincerely and faithfully, not merely to impress people, but as though they are serving Christ. Those in authority must also treat others fairly because everyone is accountable to the same Master in heaven.
