It Has Always Been About Jesus

Before the foundation of the world, God’s plan of redemption was already centered on His Son. Jesus was not an afterthought or a response to an unexpected problem. He was the Lamb chosen before creation to redeem sinful humanity and bring glory to God. From eternity past, through all of human history, and into eternity future, it has always been about Jesus.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, the promised Messiah, the anointed One, Savior, Lord, and King. He came from heaven, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a perfectly sinless life, revealed the Father, taught the truth, performed mighty works, and willingly died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He bore the judgment we deserved, rose bodily from the grave, conquered sin, death, hell, Satan and all the powers of darkness, ascended to heaven, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through genuine repentance and saving faith in Him applied by the Holy Spirit, sinners receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, eternal life, and the sure hope of resurrection and glory. He is coming again to judge the world, defeat evil, gather His people, and reign forever.

The entire Bible points to Him—from its first verse to its final promise. The Old Testament prepares the way and declares, He is coming. Its sacrifices, covenants, prophecies, priests, kings, and promises all anticipate the coming Messiah. From the promised Seed who would crush the serpent’s head to the suffering Servant who would bear our sins, Scripture continually directs our attention toward Christ.

The Gospels announce, He is here. Jesus entered the world as God in human flesh. He lived the sinless life we could never live, revealed the Father, proclaimed the truth, healed the broken, fulfilled prophecy, and willingly died on the cross in the place of sinners. He bore the judgment we deserved, was buried, and rose bodily from the grave, defeating sin, death, hell, Satan, and all of the powers of darkness.

The book of Acts proclaims Him. The apostles, empowered by the Holy Spirit, carried the message of the crucified and risen Christ throughout the world. They boldly declared that salvation is found in no one else, for “there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

The Epistles explain Him. They reveal the meaning of His life, death, resurrection, ascension, and present reign. They teach that sinners are justified by grace through faith in Christ, made new by the Holy Spirit, united with His body, and called to live in holiness, love, obedience, and hope.

Revelation declares, He is coming again. Jesus Christ will return without fail as the conquering King and righteous Judge. He will defeat every enemy, judge sin and evil, raise the dead, establish perfect justice, and bring human history to its proper conclusion. He will make all things new and dwell forever with His redeemed people in that great city of New Jerusalem.

Jesus is the center of Scripture, the center of God’s redemptive plan, and the only hope of humanity. He is the promised Messiah, the Lamb of God, the risen Savior, the reigning Lord, and the coming King. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.

Before creation, it was about Jesus. Before the first sin, it was about Jesus. To both Jews and Gentiles, it was about Jesus. Throughout the Bible, it is about Jesus. Today, it is about Jesus. When history reaches its appointed end, it will still be about Jesus.

It has always been about Jesus—and it always will be.

Do you know Him today?

Hear the gospel message as many times as necessary and do not ignore, resist or suppress the truth. As the Holy Spirit convinces you of your sin, revealing that you are lost, separated from God, condemned without hope, and need for a Savior, humble yourself before God and cry out for mercy and ask Him to save you. As the Holy Spirit leads you, genuinely repent of your sin and place your faith and trust in Jesus for who He is and what He has done for you.

To turn, trust in, and rely on Christ alone!
